I had so much fun hanging with the Ross/Demes crew last weekend! I have known Brittany for a couple years now. We work together (my day job!) and became fast friends when she joined the HR team at our company. Its been so fun to watch Brittany transition into a mother when Josie was born last October. She was already a dream step-mom to Natalie & Keegan for years, so I had no doubt that she would be great with Josie too! I actually got to spend some time with Brittany, Paul & Josie in the hospital when she was born to take some photos – you can see them here. Its hard to believe that she is going to be a whole year old TOMORROW! I feel like it was yesterday that I was excitedly making my way to the very hospital that I welcomed my own babies in to meet her. It was so fun to get together a year later to capture the whole family, big brother & sister included! Here are a few of my favorite images from our time together:
I met up with the whole Burroughs crew at Silver Lake Park in Haymarket for a fun extended family session last weekend! Erin, Rick, Mitchell & Elise actually live two doors down from us, and our kids have become fast friends! They have similar interests (sharks, ghostbusters, & the CAPS to name a few!) and are both in first grade, so its been awesome having them so close! We are able to send the kids back and forth between our houses, and it is especially awesome during snowstorms! They also put up with Wyatt’s crazy antics at the bus stop which include various costumes, nudity, and attempts to sneak on the bus with the big kids. In short, we love the Burroughs fam! This particular session was fun, too, because Rick’s brother & his family got to come along. I was so impressed by how well all the kiddos did with their smiling and sitting still – I only had to tell one embarrassing story about Jackson to get some real smiles out of Mitchell ;). Here are some of my favorites from our session:
I met up with the Thayer family at one of my favorite locations last week! Guy + Tanya have two adorable children (Nora + Ian), who totally stole the show! They were so well behaved and ready to smile, and weren’t too shy about the lady holding a big camera in their faces. We had fun jumping and running and finding all kinds of cool sticks and leaves on what we called a “nature walk,” rather than a photo shoot ;). Somehow we ended up with an overcast, very humid, hot, yet not rainy October afternoon for our session. The leaves have really starting showing shades of yellow and orange, and there were plenty on the ground, so while it felt like summer, it sure LOOKED like October! Here are a few of my favorites from our time together!
I had the pleasure of meeting up with a high school senior named Margaret, along with her family, for a senior portrait session last week. Margaret and her family have visited Hartland Orchard in Markham, Virginia several times over the years, and she had big hopes of being able to have her senior portraits taken at the Orchard. We reached out to the owner, who was incredibly kind, and were able to make it happen! We had gorgeous weather for the shoot, and all of the leaves on the mountains surrounding the orchard have started to change color, so the views were stunning. I’m excited to share a few of my favorites from our time together!
Recently, I had the absolute honor of photographing some of my dearest friends’ parents! This was a surprise shoot, so even as I type this, my friends have no idea that I did this! Kim + Tom are celebrating their 30th anniversary today. I don’t think I emphasized that enough…their THIRTIETH anniversary!!! Three decades, y’all! I feel like 30 years of marriage is such an achievement, and I swear these two make it look easy. Its clear how much love and respect they have for each other. Kim has always loved June Carter + Johnny Cash, so we thought it would be fun to recreate some of the poses that Johnny + June used in some of their iconic photos, but with a little Kim + Tom flair – here are a few of my favorites!
I met up with one of my most favorite families over the weekend to take some sweet fall portraits! I have known Megan + Russ for about a hundred years. We are all from the same small town, and all went to school together at various points over the years. After college, we all flocked back to our small town, and these two settled down together and are busy making the cutest babies you can imagine!
